October 26- ASK an Expert: Navigating Iowa Compass: Connecting Families to Community Resources

Finding the right community resources can be challenging—especially when you’re not sure where to start. Join Anna Roth from Iowa Compass to discover how this statewide service helps individuals, families, and professionals find the information, services, and supports they need.

During this webinar, participants will learn about the services available through Iowa Compass and explore how to search the Iowa Compass Resource Database for community resources. Anna will also share how professionals can use Iowa Compass to better support the individuals and families they serve and explain when a Community Resource Specialist can provide additional help.

Whether you are looking for resources for yourself, supporting a family, or helping someone navigate services, this session will introduce practical tools to make finding community supports easier.

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:
1. Describe the purpose and services provided by Iowa Compass.
2. Explain how Iowa Compass supports professionals in connecting individuals and families with community resources.
3. Demonstrate how to search the Iowa Compass Resource Database to identify relevant community resources.
4. Identify when and how to connect with an Iowa Compass Community Resource Specialist for additional assistance.

Presenter Bio

Anna Roth – BS, CRS-A/D:

Anna joined the Iowa Compass team at the CDD in April 2023 as a Community Resource Specialist, with a focus on outreach initiatives across the state to bring awareness and visibility to the Iowa Compass program. Throughout her time at Iowa Compass, Anna has served as the primary contact for all Iowa Compass calls; supporting Iowans with disabilities, their families, and services providers in navigating and connecting to appropriate local, state, and federal services and supports in their communities. Additionally, Anna is cross trained as a Database Curator, where she specializes in database expansion projects and adding new programs and services into the database. Anna is a certified Inform USA Community Resource Specialist - Aging/Disabilities (CRS-A/D) and a certified Community Health Worker (CHW).
