What is alternate assessment, and how do you know whether it is appropriate for your child? Understanding assessment options can help families take an active role in IEP conversations and decisions about their child’s education.
Join Jennifer Denne, Education Program Consultant, Alternate Assessment, for a family-friendly webinar that explains the purpose of alternate assessment, how it differs from the general statewide assessment, and how IEP teams determine who should participate.
We’ll explore how families contribute to this decision and why it is important to understand what participation may mean for a child’s learning, educational goals, and future opportunities. You’ll leave with a clearer understanding of alternate assessment and practical questions to bring to your child’s next IEP meeting.
By the end of the webinar, participants will...
- Understand what alternate assessment is and how it differs from the general statewide assessment.
- Learn how the IEP team determines whether alternate assessment is appropriate for their child and how families participate in that decision.
- Identify questions to ask about what alternate assessment participation means for their child’s learning, educational goals, and future opportunities.
